Profiles for Associate Child Ambassadors

 

Francesco Wilkie

Region 1 - Kingston & St. Andrew

Francesco is 12 years old and is a Grade 6 student at the Pembroke Hall Primary School. His relationship with the Office of the Children’s Registry (OCR) began when he attended the OCR’s Consultation with Children that was held in November 2011 at the Jamaica Conference Centre. He passionately spoke about issues regarding child abuse in Jamaica and expressed his desire to advocate for the rights of children by pursuing a career in Law. His hobbies include playing football, basketball and instruments such as the piano, guitar and drums.

He is grateful for the opportunity to serve as an OCR Associate Child Ambassador and articulated his commitment to assist the OCR condemn those who abuse children and highlight the importance for children to grow without fear of being abused.

Francesco is a member of the Junior School Challenge quiz team, choir and track team at his school.

He is described as being a confident, diligent and goal-oriented young man who is destined for greatness.

Brandon Blythe

Region 4 - St. James, Hanover & Westmoreland

Brandon is 12 years old and is a Grade 6 student at the Petersville All Age School who is currently preparing to sit the GSAT exams in March of this year. He enjoys playing cricket and football and spending time with his family and friends. He is the President of the Petersville All Age Boys’ Club, an active member of the 4H and Drama Clubs, and he also plays on the cricket teams for his community and school.

In 2012, he was selected to represent his school on a “Road Show” organised by the Westmoreland Guidance Department to raise awareness in various communities in Westmoreland about teenage pregnancy, proper parenting and child abuse. Brandon played a leading role in the drama production that was used in this public education event.

He is described as being “sociable, jovial, helpful and dependable.”

 Xaundre Mohansingh

Region 6 – Clarendon & Manchester

Xaundre Mohansingh is 15 years old and has a passion for public speaking and the outdoors. He enjoys fishing and hunting, he is well liked by his peers and teachers and actively seeks social interaction while maintaining his academic workload.

A Grade 10 student at Glenmuir High School, Xaundre currently holds the position of Class Monitor, Lance Corporal in the Cadet, Vice President of the Red Cross as well as Vice President for the Clarendon Preacher’s Club for which he has been a member since 2009. He was also a Youth Councillor in the Clarendon Youth Parish Council in 2011.

He is elated to have been selected to serve as the OCR Associate Child Ambassador for Region Six and believes that he can “be a vehicle of change to educate the abuser and the abused” about child abuse and by doing so help to “create a safer environment” for children to grow in.

Xaundre is described as being “highly intelligent, thoughtful, kind and sociable.”
